It can be said that electronic license plates are more powerful than ETC and are even expected to become an iterative technology of ETC.

According to statistics from the Ministry of Public Security, as of March 2021, the number of cars in the country was 287 million, and as of the end of February 2021, the number of ETC users nationwide was 226 million.

In addition to being innovative technologies that are continuously promoted from the top down by policies, electronic license plates and ETC also have certain overlaps in their functions. Now nationwide, electronic license plates are being piloted in many cities, including Wuxi, Shenzhen, Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, Chongqing, Changsha, Wuhan and other places. Different cities have different emphasis on implementation angles, management and control concepts, and capital investment. How big is the industry space for electronic license plates? According to data, my country's potential electronic license plate market size in 2020 is about 83 billion yuan. Based on an 8% compound growth rate of car ownership, it is estimated that by the end of the 14th Five-Year Plan, that is, in 2025, the total industry size of my country's electronic license plate market will be approximately 122 billion yuan. It can be seen that the potential industry space for electronic license plates is still relatively large.

From the perspective of future promotion, it may be better to manage these special vehicles first.Because the number of these vehicles is relatively small, these vehicles are more important at the traffic management level and need to be controlled with priority.

The current pilots are indeed more focused on specific vehicles and specific industries, because there is less resistance to the installation of electronic signs in specific industries.For ordinary passenger car owners, it is indeed unrealistic to force installation at present, and the effect of the pilot may not be so obvious, so basically the pilot is mostly to do some monitoring on industrial vehicles.

So the question arises, is there a conflict in duplication of construction between electronic identification and ETC?
