Wang Zhijun of Zhilian Technology: 5G NB-IoT enables differentiation in vertical industries of the Internet of Things

On April 10, at the 2021 Fourth China NB-loT Industry Development Conference, Wang Zhijun, Vice President of Marketing and Sales of Zhilian Technology, gave a keynote speech on "5GNB-loT enables differentiation of vertical industries in the Internet of Things". He pointed out that Zhilian Technology focuses on the research and development of cellular IoT communication chips. The company has always adhered to technological innovation since its establishment. It has currently mass-produced the first-generation NB-loT chip MK8010, and is accelerating the research and development of the next-generation NB-loT chip and CAT.1 chip.        In recent years, with the promotion and increasingly widespread application of 5G, it has brought many new possibilities to the IoT market. The positive outlook for the growth of the IoT connectivity vertical market reflects the strong demand in the industry for the new possibilities promised by 5G, as well as the wider availability of lower-cost cellular IoT modules and low-power LTE technologies such as NB-IoT and Cat M.

       Founded in 2013, Zhilian Technology is an integrated circuit design company specializing in the research and development of cellular IoT communication chips. The technologies it has mastered such as NB-loT, CAT.1, and 5G can provide an important foundation for the development of the Internet of Things, Internet of Vehicles and other fields. At present, 5GNB-loT applications are accelerating their penetration into applications in various industries, and related products of Zhilian Technology have also been put into mass production on a large scale.

       It is understood that Zhilian Technology has product layouts in the fields of communications, 5G Internet of Things, Internet of Vehicles and other fields. Wang Zhijun said that Zhilian has launched two generations of NB-loT chips, MK8010 and MK8020. The first-generation Cat.1bis chip MK8110 will also be launched in the second half of this year.

       According to its introduction, MK8010 is an NB-loT single-mode terminal communication chip independently developed by Zhilian Technology. It supports LTE Cat-NB1 and LTE Cat-NB2 communication standards. It adopts 55nm process and integrates baseband processor BP, application processor AP, simulation unit, radio frequency unit and power management module into a single chip, truly realizing NB-loT wide-area low-power IoT single-chip solution.

       It is worth mentioning that since its launch, the MK8010 product has received favor from major customers and manufacturers, with cumulative sales exceeding 1 million pieces.

       Based on MK8010, Zhilian Technology launched the independently developed second-generation NB-loT chip MK8020 in January this year. The product size is only 4.5mm*4.5mm, which is the smallest NB-loT chip in the world so far. It can activate more scenarios that cannot be applied due to volume limitations, such as small wearable devices, cargo tracking, traceability, smart animal husbandry management, etc. Adopting a 55nm process, it can operate at an ultra-low operating voltage of 2.1V, the lowest in the industry. The chip also has 32KXTALess, two-stage RTC, high-speed LPUART, fast frequency sweep and other performances, and can carry out in-depth differentiated designs for multiple typical IoT scenarios.

       It is worth mentioning that in the development trend of the Internet of Things industry, a variety of cellular Internet of Things technologies are emerging, and NB-loT is only the brightest star among them. For technologies such as Cat.1bis and 5G, Zhilian Technology has also made plans. Its first-generation Cat.1bis chip MK8110 is expected to provide samples in the second half of this year.

       These layouts have enriched Zhilian Technology’s IoT product line and provided stronger competitiveness in the era of Internet of Everything.

At present, Zhilian Technology's products have been widely used in smart street lights, electric vehicle tracking systems, water affairs, gas, fire protection and other fields.

As a source chip company, we need to communicate more with customers, understand their needs, and solve industry pain points, in order to achieve continuous innovation, which is the important future development direction of Zhilian."
