Recently, the "2020 Beidou Innovative Application and Industrial Development Seminar and Beijing Beidou Industrial Innovation Base Launching Ceremony" was held in Beijing. The event was hosted by the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology and the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone Management Committee, aiming to accelerate the development of high-tech industries in Beijing and improve the Beidou industrial ecology.

Academician Shen Rongjun of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Beidou Satellite Navigation System Engineering Chief Designer Yang Changfeng and Deputy Chief Designer Yang Yuanxi, Yang Jian, Deputy Director of the China Satellite Navigation System Management Office, Chen Huanwen, Deputy Director of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Economics and Information Technology, as well as leaders of relevant departments such as the Economic Development Zone, Haidian District, Shunyi District, industry experts, industry alliances, business representatives and other people from all walks of life attended the event.

Chen Huanwen, deputy director of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology, said in his speech that Beijing has the most complete industrial chain layout in the country, with about 116 enterprises above designated size, and the industry scale exceeded 50 billion yuan in 2019. It will use the Beiqing Road in Haidian District, the National Geographic Information Industrial Park in Shunyi District, and the Beidou Industrial Park in the Economic and Technological Development Zone as the core to create characteristic bases for industrial innovation and application demonstration, and accelerate the integration of industrial resources. At the same time, Beijing has incorporated Beidou into the new infrastructure policy system and strengthened the guarantee of factors such as funds, talents, and space.

During the event, the Beijing Beidou Industrial Innovation Base located in the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone was officially put into operation, and a number of companies signed settlement agreements with the base on site.

It is understood that the Beijing Beidou Industrial Innovation Base is based on "one hospital (Beidou New Space-time Research Institute), two museums (Satellite Navigation Application Experience Hall and Museum), and four platforms (collaborative innovation platform, rapid manufacturing platform, location data operation service platform and maker space platform)" to build a high-level, international, intelligent Beidou New Space-time Industrial Base, provide professional innovation and entrepreneurship incubation platform services, and create the core hub of Beijing's Beidou industrial ecology. The base will bring together the strengths of advantageous enterprises and institutions in all aspects of the industry chain, provide integrated services such as product development, industry incubation, international cooperation, industry exchanges, and application experience, and help Beijing's Beidou navigation and location service industry gather core elements and achieve high-quality development of the industry.

The China Satellite Navigation System Management Office stated that with the completion and opening of the Beidou-3 global satellite navigation system, deepening the application of the Beidou system is facing broad prospects and new challenges. It is in three transformation and development periods: one is the conversion and upgrading period from Beidou-2 applications to Beidou-3 applications, and the other is the transition from regional services to Beidou-3 applications. The application promotion period of global service expansion, and the third period of deep integration of satellite navigation applications with other new technologies require further emancipation of the mind, innovation and breakthroughs, giving full play to the unique advantages of the Beidou system, fully transforming powerful system capabilities into application capabilities, and maximizing the application benefits of Beidou. Beijing's promotion of the construction of the Beidou Industrial Innovation Base is a major measure to accelerate the application and promotion of the Beidou system. It will further promote the application of the Beidou system from a new starting point and better serve the economic and social development of the capital.

Chief Engineer Yang Changfeng said that the completion and opening of the Beidou-3 system marks the arrival of two new eras. The first is a new era of integrated development of the Beidou system, which promotes the deep integration of the Beidou system with new technologies such as the Internet and the Internet of Things. The second is to face the new era of global services. If we want to provide better satellite navigation services to global users, we must give full play to the unique service advantages of the Beidou system, integrate high-precision positioning, short message communications, etc. into applications in all walks of life, go global, and better realize "China's Beidou, the world's Beidou, and first-class Beidou."

As the strategic and technological source of the Beidou system, Beijing is rich in satellite navigation and location service resources and has a good foundation for the successful implementation of application demonstration projects. The launch of the Beijing Beidou Industrial Innovation Base will give full play to the capital's advantages, improve comprehensive service capabilities and industrialization development levels, and bring new momentum to the development of the Beidou application industry.
