Several common classifications of FFC cable electrical connectors

FFC electrical connectors are an important component in countless electronic devices because they facilitate and protect the transmission of electrical signals. An ideal connector is designed to withstand pressure, oil, water and vibration. Other suitable qualities include low cost, compact size, durability, simple tooling and high insulation value. Power connectors are widely used in communication applications, computers, industrial machinery and consumer electronics. Power connectors are classified into different categories according to different millimeter pin spacing (pitch), number of pins, number of rows, etc., including:

FFC Connector: Flat Flat Cable (FFC) is made of thin rectangular copper conductors sandwiched between two layers of insulating polyester. These copper wires are tinned to make electrical contacts and connections. This type of cable is used when a straight line to a connection is required.

FPC Connector: Flexible printed circuit boards (FPC) have a similar construction to FFC connectors, except that there is no chemical etching of the FFC copper film to create a specific pattern. Although these circuits are customized for each application, a variety of shapes and geometries can solve difficult packaging problems. Ribbon Cable Ribbon Cable Connectors are designed to be used with IDC and other multi-way connectors. Many IDC connections can be made at once, a time saving way for many applications requiring connections. These connectors are designed to be reused, but care can often be taken when removing the cable.

PCB connector, a printed circuit board (PCB) mounted terminal block allows individual wires to be connected to the circuit board. The circuit board mounted terminal blocks are soldered to the circuit board, but they are available in a pull apart version which allows half of the block connection wires to be pulled out from the soldered to PCB section. For example, these connectors are used in equipment for data, measurement and control technology as well as power and industrial electronics. DIN connector: A DIN connector is a connector that conforms to one of the many standards defined by DIN. DIN connectors are widely used in personal computers. For example, the computer keyboard connector is a DIN connector.DIN 41612 connector is widely used to connect network devices such as routers and switches.

USB connector: USB connects computer peripherals such as mice, keyboards, cameras, printers, flash drives using USB cables, USB hubs, USB wireless devices, USB boosters, USB extension cables, USB hard drive extension cables, USB connectors, USB serial adapters and USB 3.0 PCMCIA connectors: PCMCIA (Personal Computer Memory Card International Association) connectors (also known as "PC Card" connectors) are used to connect PCMCIA peripherals to computers, generally laptops.
